Artist’s Statement

Because each new 'show' draws on a different theme, or expansion of a previous one, I find my artistic intent varies as the images bring out new interests, new realizations and perhaps even new beliefs. The creative process acquires more depth and greater variety as time and experiences accumulate. As an individual I am in constant flux and so is my art. The images can only reflect who I am and how I feel at the time they are painted. Nothing is fixed - the intent is always to grow and better myself as an artist and as a person. And, most importantly I believe the art should speak for itself. Unlike words which are easily misinterpreted, paintings are what they are - true to themselves allowing the viewer to respond similarily. Maria
